Play Therapy
“Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, children’s natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words” CPT
Play Therapy allows children to play out their fears and anxieties giving them the chance to face them directly, but still at a safe-enough distance. Through play children gradually expose themselves to tolerable amounts of distress, make sense of life around them, cope better with changes in their lives and at times restore and heal them. It is an approach that helps children arrive at a new way of understanding their thoughts, fears and experiences.
Therapeutic relationship is an important step in the recovery process. Through trust, acceptance and warmth children feel safe enough to express themselves and venture into a journey of healing and resiliency.
